Rhizopon manufactures and markets eight products based on the active ingredient indolyl butyric acid (4-(indol-3-yl)butyric acid) to treat cuttings of ornamental plants.
Growers can choose from seven ready-to-use Chryzo and Rhizopon AA cutting powders. The content varies from 0.1% to 2%. The lower 1-2 cm of the cuttings are dipped into the powder and the excess powder is tapped off. The treated cuttings are then inserted into the substrate.
The Rhizopon AA tablets are dissolved in water and can be applied using a variety of methods. With the immersion method, the cuttings are completely immersed in the Rhizopon AA tablet solution for 5 seconds. Long soak treatment involves placing the base (bottom 1-2 cm) of the cutting in the Rhizopon AA tablet solution for a minimum of 12 hours. The cuttings can then be inserted.
Branch cuttings are leafless cuttings whose leaves have fallen off naturally and can be treated with the long suction method in winter. If desired, these branch cuttings can also be stored first in moist refrigeration to prevent them from drying out after freezing.
